General Permit for Discharges from Marinas including Boat Yards and Yacht Basins

Important Announcement - Determination for General Discharge Permit No. 16-MA (NPDES No. MDG99), effective August 1, 2017 

After consideration of all received comments, the Department has prepared a final determination on the renewal of the State/NPDES General Permit for Discharges from Marinas, Including Boat Yards and Yacht Basins.  The renewal permit, recognized as the 16-MA and replacing the former 10-MA, applies to stormwater and wastewater disc​harges from marinas, boat yards, and yacht basins in the State of Maryland, if the facility performs maintenance activities on site.

Changes which have occurred between the 10-MA and 16-MA permits are summarized in the public notices for the tentative and final determinations. All substantive comments received during the comment period are identified in the Categorized List of Received Comments.  Responses to each comment from the Department are found in the Response to Comments document.  For reference, a copy of the previous 10-MA is provided.

MDE is scheduling several monthly sessions this summer regarding NPDES General Permit for Marinas (16-MA).  The Department will be covering how to fill out a Notice of intent (NOI) and Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP), as well as an overview of changes that have occurred from the previous permit.  The next training presentation is scheduled for August 11, 2017 at 10:00 AM at the Maryland National Ready Mixed Concrete Association Education Center located at 719 Ellsworth Drive Silver Spring, MD 20910.

16-MA Permit Information​

The 16-MA general permit became effective on August 1, 2017.  Permittees who were registered under the 10-MA have until November 1, 2017 to apply for registration under the 16-MA permit.
