Formation, Purpose, Composition, and Appointment of Members

The Board was established under Title 13 of the Environment Article, Sections 13-101 through 13-602 in the Annotated Code of Maryland. Information on the board's purpose, composition, and the appointment of members is linked here.

 

Meeting Information

The Board is scheduled to meet on the either the third or the fourth Wednesday of each month.  Board meetings are held at the Maryland Department of the Environment and are scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m.     Public notice of each Board meeting appears in the Maryland Register approximately two weeks before the meeting date and the public is invited to attend.

In light of the ongoing Covid-19 restrictions, the Board of Well Drillers meetings will be held via video/teleconference only until further notice.  Please use the video link or phone number and PIN on the posted agenda to access the meeting.

Licensing Examinations are now Available in Spanish

Some of the Board of Well Driller licensing examinations are now available in Spanish. Please indicate you would like the Spanish version when you submit your payment and application to take the exam. Notice must be provided to the Board at least two weeks prior to the examination date.

Currently, the Apprentice Well Driller and the Journeyman Well Driller—Water Supply exams are available in Spanish.

 

The Apprentice Well Driller Exam Prep Course, Scheduled for May 21, 2020 at MDE is Postponed to Fall 2020

The Apprentice Well Driller Exam Prep Course, scheduled for May 21, 2020 at MDE is postponed to Fall 2020. The rescheduled date has not yet been determined.

The Apprentice Well Driller Exam Prep Course is a single day class designed to prepare individuals for the written examination for Maryland's apprentice well driller license. Topics covered include design standards, well construction, well maintenance and rehabilitation, and well abandonment. Instruction will also include a complete overview of the regulations pertaining to water well construction regulations in the State of Maryland with emphasis being placed on the public and environmental health impacts of these regulations.
