Lead Poisoning Prevention Commission

History, Charge and Term

The Lead Poisoning Prevention Commission (LPPC) was created by statute in 1994 (Chapter 114, Acts of 1994). The Commission studies and collects information on the effectiveness of the Lead Poisoning Prevention Program and current risk reduction treatments in reducing exposure to lead as well as risk ​and liability issues including availability of insurance.​ (Environment Article, Secs. 6-801, 6-848).  The Commission consists of nineteen members w​ho serve four-year terms. Seventeen of these, including the chair, are appointed b​​​​y the Governor. One is a member of the Senate named by the Senate President and one is a delegate chosen by the House Speaker. Meeting Information
Please Note:  All meetings are recorded and listed under "Document Archives" above.

All Lead Commission meetings are generally held from 9:30 to 11:30 on the first Thursday of every month and break for the months of July, August and December.


The majority of meetings will have a hybrid format, allowing participants to choose whether they want to attend via video, phone, or in person at MDE.  If there is a change to the meeting for​mat for a particular date, there will be a specific mention in the Special Announcements section above indicating otherwise.

In person meetings will be held at MDE, 1800 Washington Boulevard, Baltimore, MD 21230 in the MDE Conference Room Titled Aqua Room# 1005​.  We ask that you please bring your own printed material if needed as there will not be any provided except for what is listed on the TV monitor.  All handouts and materials are available in the link above under Document Archives. We also ask that all visitors to the building please park on the blue lot unless a special request for accommodations is made at least 72 hours in advance to Wendy Phillips at wendy.phillips@maryland.gov

Blue Lot (General Parking)

The Blue Lot West Entrance is located on Washington Boulevard.  Visitors are to use the Blue Lot for parking and enter via the left lane of the entrance to access the call button for admittance.  Once parked, access to the building from the Blue Lot is through the pedestrian tunnel.  Visitors are to use the call box located at the entrance of the tunnel to obtain building access.


Red Lot (Limited Parking)

The Red Lot Montgomery Park Business Center Entrance is located on Washington Boulevard.  Parking in the Red Lot is limited and spaces are based on availability.  Visitors are required to use the Blue Lot for parking, however, under limited circumstances such as handicap access or Special Guests (e.g. speakers, high-ranking Government Officials, etc.), visitors may be authorized to use the Red Lot.  Due to the limited number of available parking spaces, requests will be considered but may not be approved by the facility.   For those requesting special parking accommodations, please submit an email request at least 72 hours in advance (3 work days) to Wendy Phillips at wendy.phillips@maryland.gov.  Special Guests should enter through the left lane at the gate and use the call box to request entrance to the lot.
