AFO Permit Reissuance

The Maryland Department of the Environment (MDE) is developing a new 5-year General Discharge Permit for Animal Feeding Operations (AFO Permit).  The 2014 AFO Permit expired on November 30, 2019.

AFO Regulations

MDE is proposing AFO regulations that would affect any CAFO that intends to apply for new or continued coverage under a discharge permit for AFOs.  The Notice of Proposed Action was published in Volume 46, Issue 20 of the Maryland Register on September 27, 2019.
