Brownfields Revitalization Incentive Program (BRIP)This program is intended to promote economic development, especially in distressed urban areas, by identifying and redeploying underutilized properties. Reusing real property makes efficient use of existing infrastructure while providing an alternative to developing open space that contributes to urban sprawl.
BRIP may be able to offer financial incentives for help organizing and assessing a Brownfield property, performing environmental evaluations, and remedial action cleanups through grants, loans and real property tax credits. The program is administered through the Maryland Dept. of Commerce and the Brownfield property must be located within a participating jurisdiction that has enacted BRIP legislation and carries the requirement for participation and completion of Maryland’s Voluntary Cleanup Program (VCP).
BRIP competitive grant and loan funding support economic development and is managed through the Dept. of Commerce Maryland Economic Development Assistance Authority and Fund (MEDAAF).
