Clean Air Progress Reports

This year, for first time since the Clean Air Act (CAA) and National Ambient Air Quality Standard (NAAQS) were established, Maryland is measuring levels below all NAAQS for all criteria pollutants across the state. This is a huge milestone.

The state has been meeting all other standards for several years, except the 2015 ozone NAAQS. The 2022 monitoring data shows all nonattainment areas in the state are attaining the 2015 ozone NAAQS as well.

Clean air matters to Maryland, our neighboring states and the Chesapeake Bay, and that is why we are committed to a course of air quality improvements.
